Inside Saatchi & Saatchi

Nothing is impossible.

“Nothing is impossible.” These three words perfectly encapsulate the feeling of striving for perfection. Saatchi & Saatchi is arguably the most famous advertising agency in the world. In the 1980s, brothers Maurice and Charles Saatchi expanded their agency to 114 offices in 76 countries, making it the largest advertising agency in history. They created groundbreaking art and communication pieces that reinvented advertising and the agency model. So when I was asked to contract with them, I said yes in a heartbeat.

My excitement was palpable as I approached their office door, my heart racing. I was about to start working as a world-class designer, but I felt nervous and doubted myself. All the great work I’d done before seemed to vanish from memory. This was Saatchi & Saatchi, the place I had learned about years earlier when searching for the best in my field.

As you walk in the door, there’s a plaque that reads “Nothing is impossible.” It’s the company mantra, and it might be the best one out there. As a creative, it opens up possibilities, giving you the freedom to ideate and create incredibly cool and beautiful things. One such creation was a life-size Lamborghini toy box (with a real Lamborghini inside) to promote Big W’s toy sale. Positioned around key parts of the city, it attracted crowds like children at Christmas time. I visited it myself and was thrilled to see the excitement it generated.

The view from the office wasn’t bad either. Located in The Rocks in Sydney’s Circular Quay, my desk was against the window, offering an outlook of the harbour and Opera House. It was an incredible experience creating an iconic Australian rebrand of Big W. Working at Saatchi & Saatchi was a dream come true, allowing me to contribute to their legacy of innovation and excellence in the advertising world.
